You Can not Give what You Do not Have

You can’t love another human being unless you love and accept yourself. You cannot give what you don’t have. Your self-worth is very important. I am not referring to glorious vanity or your thinking more highly of yourself that you ought. I am referring to the mentality of accepting yourself wholly and without prejudice. It is a treasure and a delight when I meet someone who knows their own worth. When you are aware of who you really are (not who others think you are), you refuse to accept anything less than what you are worth. When I talk about ‘worth’ here, I am referring to your value. Surely, you are priceless.

There is no amount of money that can equal to your existence. There is no amount of money that can be paid to cover your presence. But value, in this case, has to do with how you feel about yourself, treat yourself and what thoughts you think towards yourself.

When you value yourself, others will follow suit in like manner. Many people stay in relationships that are unhealthy because they believe that their own worth is tied to another person. Believe me when I say that your worth is not engulfed within another person. If you are in this type of relationship, Get Out Now! And decide that you are worth it. You deserve to be in a healthy, loving relationship. Other people can help, teach, encourage and empower us but no one can place a measure of value upon you except you-alone. You must know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are worthy! Say it with me: “I am Worthy of Love”

Though the world can be an unloving place, we all, in spite of what we show forth to others, we all have the capacity to love. Love is universal. Any person can recognize love with their heart. It may take longer for some people to recognize love because hurt has blocked them but given the chance, they will. Some people need more love and therefore, more patience to deal with. When you meet someone who seems the most unloving – they are the ones who really need it. They need something to penetrate the wall of hurt. The only power that can penetrate is a power called love, often nothing else. So, I urge you to be an action figure, a shero or hero, called Love!

Declare Your Dream

Today marks the 50 year anniversary of Martin Luther King’s ‘I have a dream’ speech. More than 200,000 gathered on the mall for the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on Aug. 28, 1963. Dreams can be realized. Dream can come to fruition. Much that has happened in our world started out as a dream in someone’s heart. As they say, Dreams DO come true!

We all have dreams, goals, aspirations and hopes about our future – individually and collectively. Along life’s highway to those things; ‘shift’ happens. We get discouraged, lose hope, become cynical and give up on all of it. We basically stop trying and cease our pursuits.

TODAY, IN THIS VERY MOMENT, As you read this, I SPEAK a FRESH wind into your spirit, a reviving wind, a rejuvenating wind, a wind that will SHIFT YOU FORWARD to REALIZE your dreams, goals, aspirations and hopes!

I speak against discouragement, lack, misguidance, unworthiness, injustice, dashed dreams, crushed hopes, lost aspirations and faulty goals. I speak LIFE to you, flowing within you like raging waters washing away the hurt, disappointment, pain and guilt.

May you be ENERGIZED, EMPOWERED, ENCOURAGED and ESTATIC about your future!

I say to you RISE UP from your bed of barrenness! RISE UP from your couch of complacency! RISE UP from your chair of callousness!

Walk toward your destiny with a fresh vision for your life – a vision of hope with a bright future. No longer settle for the scraps of life, no longer settle for just getting by, no longer settle for being average. YOU have GREATNESS on the INSIDE of you. Your dreams can be realized! Step out with a new hope TODAY. Only YOU can make that decision to RISE UP!

Let TODAY be your day of healing, restoration and revival.

Let TODAY be the day that YOU make your COMEBACK!

Let TODAY be the day that you WRITE your own DREAM declaration!

Let No Negative Label Stick

1989 to 2013ft

In 1989, many people said a lot of great things about me (my beauty, my mind and my potential) but I didn’t believe it for myself. Today, I not only believe it but I walk in it every single day of my life. My personal positive images and beliefs are deep within my heart.

You see, it doesn’t matter what great things people say about you; If you don’t believe it about yourself, it means absolutely nothing. You’ve got to have good positive beliefs about yourself deep within your heart so that not one negative label will stick on you. Believe great things about yourself. Not just on the surface of your life but put it down deep within your heart.

Speak Up

When people gather together for a common, positive cause; great things can happen. It is only when we are silent that unfavorable actions prevail over us. Sometimes you have to speak up for yourself and not depend on other people to carry your words forward.

We’ve also got to speak up for those who can’t and those who aren’t present with us to speak. I am always reminded of when I worked at a large church and during our church-wide event planning meetings, we’d be so focused on the adults. Each and every time, the Youth Pastor would lift his hand and say, “Don’t forget about the Youth!”.
We’d keep on planning and he’d remind us again, “Don’t forget about the Youth!” He was the voice of the Youth constantly reminding us that in all of our planning, “don’t forget about the Youth” because they are important, too. We didn’t forget about the youth because he never allowed us to forget.
I share this story to say, Speak Up. At times in your life, you may be called upon to speak up for yourself, for a child or even for a parent. Take that opportunity. You never know how much your positive courage will impact another human being or even the whole nation.

Share Your Story: have you had a time when you had to speak up for yourself? What happened? How did you feel afterwards? If there something you need to speak up about?
